Industry Updates – August 2026

Another month done means another summary of some recent construction industry news. This article provides a concise summary of some of the latest regional and national construction & law news. Here are a few stories from the past few weeks:

Liffey Valley to City Centre Core Bus Corridor Scheme

The first major infrastructure scheme under the BusConnects Dublin programme is now underway.

GRAHAM Group and the National Transport Authority (NTA) will work together on the project. It seeks to provide the city with more sustainable travel options whilst managing the inevitable disruption of construction.

The project aims to improve public transportation and develop Dublin’s transport network. The primary goal being to make it more accessible, reliable and environmentally friendly.

A New Library in the Heart of Dublin

A new five-storey City Library will be built in the heart of Dublin, with Purcell Construction as the main contractor for Phase 1.

The project, at Parnell Square North, will aim to deliver a new library while restoring Georgian heritage buildings. The scheme will also refurbish the 1930s wing of the Hugh Lane Gallery.

The project both preserves the historical and cultural significance of the city and develops facilities with modern features. The new library will be a major milestone in the development of Dublin.

Progress Update: Drone footage of Dublin Velodrome

In last month’s update, we got a first look at the new National Velodrome and Badminton Centre at Sport Ireland Campus. This month, we see the sheer scale of the project and the good work of Walls Construction in progressing the project.

Data Centres and Technology in the Construction Industry

With data centres and technology becoming an increasingly popular topic of discussion in the construction industry, their growth has brought more project opportunities.

Intel, the leading American manufacturer of semiconductor computer circuits, has announced a €5 billion capital investment at its Leixlip campus in Ireland.

The expansion is expected to create several hundred direct jobs at the facility. Construction and equipment installation are projected to generate thousands more contractor positions.
